Privacy notice

How Layered Cities handles data. Last updated 22 October 2026.

Who is responsible

Layered Cities is run by Matija Hrvoj, Prague, Czech Republic, who is the controller of any personal data described here. Contact: matthew.hr29@gmail.com.

The short version

There are no accounts on a server, no advertising and no tracking or analytics. Your profile stays in your own browser. The feedback form is anonymous. The only personal data that can reach anyone else is technical data, such as your IP address, which the services that deliver the site and its maps receive when your browser contacts them.

Your profile and itineraries

Your name, surname, username, email, photo, short bio, wish list, itineraries and questionnaire answers are saved only in your browser's storage on the device you use. They are not sent to me or to any server, and I cannot see them. They don't follow you to another device, browser or private window. You can remove them at any time with Delete profile on the Edit profile page, or by clearing this site's data in your browser.

Feedback form

The feedback form doesn't ask for your name or email, and every question is optional. Answers are sent to Netlify Forms, a service of Netlify, Inc., which hosts this site, and stored there. Netlify may also record technical details with each answer, such as your IP address and browser. Please don't write personal details in your answers. I use the answers only to improve the site, keep them no longer than two years, and can delete them on request. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in improving the site (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Hosting

The site is hosted by Netlify, Inc. Like any web host, Netlify processes your IP address and basic browser details to deliver the pages and keep them secure. Netlify is based in the United States and transfers data under the safeguards described in its own privacy policy.

Maps, photos and fonts

To show the maps, photos and text, your browser loads content directly from other services, which receive your IP address and browser details: map tiles from Esri (ArcGIS), place and city photos from Wikimedia Commons and Wikipedia, and the map library from Cloudflare (cdnjs). The fonts are part of the site itself, so your browser doesn’t contact Google for them. If you switch a map to Google Maps, or open a place in Google Maps, Google receives that request under its own privacy policy. Links to venues' websites take you to sites with their own privacy policies.

Cookies

The site sets no cookies for tracking or advertising. It uses your browser's storage only to keep your profile, itineraries and recently loaded photos (photos for 7 days), which is needed for the features you use.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask for access to, correction of or deletion of personal data about you, and object to its use, by writing to the email above. You can also complain to the Czech Office for Personal Data Protection (Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů, uoou.gov.cz).

Changes

If the site starts using accounts stored on a server, payments or other new services, this notice will be updated before that happens. Last updated 22 October 2026.
